Love and I went to Monkey’s school for her first student led conference since starting at her transition to KGV.
We met with her advisor first. Monkey was late, so we started without her. Her advisor only had good things to say about her. He said if the SEN liaison hadn’t told him about her difficulties, he wouldn’t have known she was autistic. He said he had been told what to look for and how to de-escalate the situation should it arise.
None of that seemed as necessary. So far, Monkey has been meltdown free. It’s amazing and wonderful. I had reservations about sending her to a school I wasn’t in. I was also worried about her not being with her previous SEN liaison because she had done such a wonderful job in helping Monkey. She has proven me wrong. I am so darn proud of her.
She seems to be loving her course. She seems to be working hard. She has made some friends at the school and has even gone on outings with them! Her little world seems to have opened up so much.
This is such a win. I know we aren’t out of the woods yet, and there are going to be hiccups, but she is showing how incredibly strong she truly is.
