Our Trip Back Home…

This was our first trip to our home since leaving for Hong Kong.  We were able to stay for 3 weeks.  We spent time at my parents’ home and at Love’s sister’s home.  We were able to spend a lot of time with family during this time.

We saw all of my siblings during that time.  And we got to meet my nephew for the first time.  He’s the first baby born from one of my siblings.  He was born after we got to Hong Kong.

He is the cutest and happiest baby ever.  It was sweet.  Monster was jealous of him to begin with, but over time, she was playing with him the whole time.  She really liked him though she wouldn’t admit she did.

We celebrated Christmas with my family.  We were able to see all 5 of my brothers and my 2 sisters together.  My mom made a big dinner for everyone.  We opened presents.

We also got to see my grandparents who are getting up in age.  We attended the A’s family Christmas party.  It had been quite a while since we had seen all of them since we had been gone for a year and a half.

Presents were a funny thing for us.  We didn’t bring a ton with us because of space (and money.  We spent most of our money going there).  We brought snacks and food that you can’t get in the US for the most part.  Then there is the issue of gifts given to us and the kids.  We ended up with so much stuff to bring home.  I know we left quite a bit behind.  We ended up buying extra bags to take things home.

It was hard to go home.  I know the kids had a really hard time leaving my parents in the airport.  My son wanted to stay behind and live with them.  I understand his sentiment, but I know he would have hated being away from his sisters and us.  He would have missed his friends and school (regardless of what he says).  He has so many good friends here in Hong Kong.

While we miss family so much, we do like being in Hong Kong.  It was hard to leave, but it was nice to get back home and get to normal.  Well, after getting over the jet lag of course.
